Fly Fishing

My dad passed away about a year and a half ago and I inherited his fly rod. I remember when he used it way back when. It is pretty old but is in good condition and gave me a reason to get back into doing some fly fishing.

To begin fly fishing you’ll need a fly fishing rod, a line and some artificial flies. Flies are created working with thread, wire, beads, feathers, yarn and hair, and are designed to resemble insects and bait fish at various stages of maturity to attract trout, salmon, panfish and carp, in addition to  bonefish and bass.

The majority of people consider fly fishing to be a sport best experienced in mountain streams with catches of trout and salmon. Although these waters are excellent locations to fly fish, you might also enjoy incredible fly fishing in the warm waters of ponds and lakes, and in salt water – and catch a wide variety of fish. There’s most likely ponds, streams and lakes near you where you can get in some good fly fishing.

We’ll discuss some fly fishing tips and techniques that might help you better enjoy this sport. Please add your own as well.
